We couldn't be more excited to announce the coming of "H E A P" on Nov. 4th in the courtyard of our Germantown location. As a dancer, Ivy has been awaiting the right opportunity to incorporate choreography and performance into the Wilder presentation. That time has come! H E A P will be the first installment of performance as part of our next Wilder Etudes edit: PRESENCE.
"H E A P is an ongoing contemporary dance installation project that draws on the movements and statements of people from diverse communities to create performances that inspire inclusion, celebrate diversity, and re-imagine the places we inhabit."
To create future iterations of this work, H E A P is currently compiling anonymous personal statements from people during their pop-up installations.
If individuals feel comfortable doing so, H E A P asks them to respond to the following prompt:
I AM _____________________________________________.
They then take your written responses back to their rehearsal studio and begin translating your statements into movements.
The material created in this way will be choreographed into the next HEAP installation, and so the piece will continually evolve from location to location, as New Dialect accumulates stories from people across the city and elsewhere.
